Charles serves as an Associate Vice President in Clinical Development at EyeBio. Fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal surgery, Charles began his career in drug development as a Medical Director in the Early Clinical Development group at Regeneron. In this role Charles was also able to leverage his training as a translational scientist. An active researcher, Charles has published more than 25 peer-reviewed papers, and has lectured on his original research at major scientific meetings.
Charles received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, his M.D. from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University. Charles completed his residency training in ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where he was selected as Chief Resident and then returned to the University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute to complete his vitreoretinal fellowship. He continues to practice as volunteer faculty at his alma mater, SUNY Downstate, teaching residents at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn.
